Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka was born in Belarus in Minsk. Her father Sergey (d. 2019) was an athlete in ice hockey. Aryna Sabalenka was born in Minsk, Belarus on May 5th of 1998. She has been awarded 12 WTA singles titles. This includes an Australian Open Grand Slam at the 2023 Australian Open. Also, she is a great doubles player. She's won two more Majors in this area, the US Open 2019 and the Australian Open 2021 won both together with Elise Mertens. In 2019, she was the winner of both her first WTA 1000 and Miami Open in Indian Wells with her Belgian partner, completing The Sunshine Double. Four women's teams could have done this feat. She rose from second to third on the world singles rankings on 23 August 2021. The highest ranking she achieved came in January of 2023. As a double, she was able to propel herself into first position on February the following year following her victory in Melbourne and becoming the 2nd tennis player born in Belarus to succeed in the sport of doubles. Dmitry Tursunov, a former Russian tennis star, coached her through the season of 2018 until the end and part of 2020's season. Dieter Kindlmann was her coach from August through September 2020. Since the end of 2020 she has been coached by her countryman Antonio Dubrov. Serena Williams is her role for a role model, closely then Maria Sharapova.
